Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) Platform

Sample submission and data retrieval

Plan: Before you submit samples please get in touch with us to discuss your project (pamela.nicholson@unibe.ch).

Sample submission: Before you submit samples for short read sequencing please enter the details in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). If you need assistance, please contact the lab.

DNA Libraries: The ultimate success or failure of a library preparation strongly depends on using an accurately quantified amount of input DNA. Correct quantification of genomic DNA is essential and should ideally be done by fluorimetry. Please feel free to contact the lab, if you want to use our Qubit 2.0 system.

RNA Libraries: The ultimate success or failure of a library preparation strongly depends on using intact RNA and an accurately quantified amount of input RNA. You need to document the integrity of the RNA by providing us with some documentation of your QC (e.g. Bioanalyzer RIN number). Please feel free to contact the lab, if you want to perform QC of your RNA in our lab.

Data transfer: You will get a notification once your data is released. Illumina data can be downloaded from the Illumina LIMS, for instructions please have a look at download_data_from_UniBeLIMS.pdf. Download instructions for PacBio data will be sent to you by email.

Billing: The projects will be invoiced to the customer by the NGS Platform.

The following sentence must be included in the acknowledgement of publications (adapt, if necessary): We thank the Next Generation Sequencing Platform of the University of Bern for performing the high-throughput sequencing experiments. As soon as the publication is available in BORIS Portal, please send an e-mail to the BORIS team (boris@unibe.ch) and ask them to link the publication to the NGSP.
